After School Sports
SOCCER: ALL GRADES (1-6)
At the Avenue Sports Ministry we infuse fun and outside the box soccer
activities with biblical themes (Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, etc). Although we do play the traditional game, our focus is more on character development and fun activities with the ball rather than skill development. We start and end all activities with prayer and encouragement. And every player walks away with a “word of the day” and sense they are seen, heard, and loved by God!
MARTIAL ARTS: 4 th-6 th GRADE
Join our Kajukenbo Martial Arts afterschool program, which is perfect for beginners!
Students will learn the basics of this unique self-defense style, including exercises,
punches, blocks, and kicks, all in a safe and fun environment. Each class also builds
confidence, discipline, and respect through character development activities. No
previous experience is needed, just come ready to learn and have fun!
TUMBLING: 1 st- 3 rd GRADE
Learn elements of floor gymnastics while improving balance, large motor skills,
flexibility, coordination, following directions, and more. Each week we will focus on war up, stretching, basic gymnastics, and conditioning. Basic floor gymnastics skills include various rolls, cartwheels, jumps, headstand/handstands, and bridges. Conditioning includes sit ups, push ups, squats, wall-sits etc. Each student will work at their own pace and ability. All classes start and end with prayer!
BEGINNERS BOXING: 1st – 6th GRADE
Join Pastor Daniel Ortega from the Avenue Church in the fundamentals of boxing. Along with prayer and emphasis on key biblical leadership words (Integrity, Honor, Respect, Self Control) Pastor Daniel will lead each student through various fitness, footwork, bag work, and positioning exercises each week. No experience is necessary, only a
willingness to work hard, learn, and have fun.
**NO person-to-person contact will be conducted in this class.
AVENUE VOLLEYBALL: 4th – 6th GRADE
Led by the Avenue Church staff this class will teach basic skills in
volleyball. Also, an emphasis will be placed on leadership themes woven into fun
activities. The participants will experience direct mentorship by the Avenue leaders who will pour into each child with encouragement, positivity, and prayer. The
emphasis here is discipleship and experiential learning, and not skill development.
